Hola Adriana, Disfruté de tomar el curso. He tomado Rosetta Stone antes de tomar este curso, lo que me ayudó. I hope i didn't butcher that too bad. I give the course an 8 out of 10. There was some verbiage/grammer that did confuse me at first but was later explained as I went through the lessons. There was some words that I never seen before and it was difficult for me to pronounce them. If there was a way that I was able to click on the word and just hear that word spoken slowly, would have helped tremendously. Also, I think it would help if I was able to chat or skype with other students (or the teacher) to practice my speaking. I'm learning fast and I really feel that I know the words but I'm consistantly being corrected or the native speaker looks confused. As far as practicality, this course is perfect. In Northern VA we have a large spanish community. The majority are hard working people but we do have a MS13, SSL, El EME, and 18th Street gang problem. I'm continuing to print out the material to study so I'm more effective when dealing with that aspect of my job. Thank you and your company for puting this together, I'm sure it will save many lives.
Yes the online course was great. At first glance when I started the class it seemed overwhelming to see 19 units with 4 - 6 lessons in each, but knowing I had 6 months, could go at my own pace, and I had a desire to want to learn Spanish, I started my lessons. After Unit 3, I noticed each Unit/lesson would partially use previous learned words which helped reinforce remembering them along with some words that were very similar to English words so I only had to truly learn only a few words in each unit. The flash cards, reviewing each lesson at the beginning of the next lesson, and especially the games were extremely helpful. I'm glad to still have access till November. I most definitely will keep practicing. Being able to hear it makes a huge difference.
The course is a great way to learn Spanish in a academy setting. I would strongly recommend it for departments to add this to their coursework. It is very simple to use and the ability to always see your results and test averages is a huge plus.
I would absolutely rate this course a 10, I would rate it higher, even. It was extremely user friendly. It was printer friendly. It was imaginative. It was NEVER boring. It was fun. It was informative. It taught helpful phrases that I can use in a real world situation. I could actually go on and on. I have already recommended this course to all the dispatchers and officers at my department who need or want a Spanish course.
I loved that I was able to go back to the tests again and again to try and better my score. I'm very competitive, even against myself so that was fun. I also really liked getting the word of the day and trying to figure it out without looking at the English translation. I do suggest the English and Spanish have more space between them if other people are like me though. Sometimes it was hard not to notice the English first.
